My birth, textile cork resin plastic EPS, 160x140x185cm, 2024
In 2023 I got a grant from the AFK, for surging new materials in this fast develloping sutainable field. I’m fascinated by this thought of recycling, using second hand EPS and textile but also cork. I saw this magnificent cork oaks in Portugal they are so strong in the red earth, so majestic, it’s magic to have a piece of that in the studio.

The sculpture series began in 2012, from a need to relate to people. After years of investigations, wanderings into the origins of landscape and civilization, in photographs and installations, I could no longer avoid the human being.
My own physical state, psyche and history became the starting point. Every sculpture I make is something I can therefore change – as I in fact do myself.
The materials I prefer to use had and have a role in the old and the new history of mankind. The dissection of that history reveals them: clay, glass, bitumen, plaster, metals, mirror aluminium, textile, acrylic.
In 2017, these were joined by silk, given to me by the sisters during my residency at the textiles workshop of Our Beloved Lady Abbey in Oosterhout. The silk brought a refinement, softness, and above all colour to the raw skin of the sculptures. Silk is not just a beautiful material, but also has an extensive history of culture and trade. I am aware of this every time I use it. As I discovered while working with it, the choice goes beyond the intrinsic quality of the material.

In the summer of 2020, when you could still just drop in on each other, Cintha van Heeswijck, director of ArtZuid, came to my studio and invited me to make work for ArtZuid for two locations. I loved it, a challenge, a new material and new size! They became the Sisters.
The Sisters stands for inclusion and diversity, but above all for the female power to embrace and empower. They are the new women, Strong and Sensitive. If you see them; Go for a hug and dance!
In preparation for the Sisters is a series of porcelain sculptures, titled NOW!, about 52 cm. high. In this series, I investigate the shapes and proportions of the figures to each other, and the colour.

The sculpture series 7 Lovers is based on Snow White.
was supported by the AFK , Amsterdam Fund for the Arts
The story of Snow White is about all form of relationships. By making a series of Snow White, I explored all possible combination can be explored. The figure of Snow White is raw, unfinished, without much detail. She can be you. She is pure, sensitive but without any help of her friends she is nowhere. Her 7 friends rescue her time after time; give her a home and work. For short; we need each other, even Snow White can’t handle it all on her own.
